Tuesdays with Dana, 9/12/17

After a successful march last week in Irvine in defense of DACA recipients, Indivisible OC 48 reconvened in front of Dana Rohrabacher's Huntington Beach office to demand that congressman Rohrabacher move to protect the status of these dreamers. Last week Trump essentially passed the responsibility for the welfare of these 800,000 DACA recipients to congress, passing the DREAM Act will offer a legal path to citizenship for the dreamers under the DACA program. Rohrabacher has not offered any support for the DREAM Act in congress, and he continues to refuse to speak with any constituents that disagree with his political ideology. Last week a group of his constituents went to his office only to be met with locked doors and barricaded doorjams to prevent even letters from passing through the barrier of his office door and his constituents.

Indivisible OC48 has been tireless in their work to help raise awareness in Orange County's 48th congressional district about the policy and behavior of this career congressman. Orange County deserves a representative who will hear the voices of all its constituents, and Dana Rohrabacher continues to demonstrate that he has no interest in serving his whole district, save for his donors and sheepish base. It is important that we pressure him to respond to the DACA rescission and make statements for the public record about his position on immigration reform and the status of these 800,000 DACA recipients.
