California's 48th congressional district
Our district spans from Seal Beach to Laguna Beach, and includes Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, and parts of Midway City, Santa Ana, Westminster, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach and Laguna Niguel.
Recent census data shows the district population is approximately 724,000 residents. The demographic makeup is approximately 69% Caucasian, 18% Asian, 20% Hispanic and 3% other. The district's unemployment rate is 9.8%.
In the 2016 congressional election, 306,416 votes were cast, and incumbent congressman Dana Rohrabacher won by a margin of approximately 17%. US State Department reports approximately 380,000 registered voters in the 48th, with 23% of registrants indicating no party preference, while census data shows that the district contains roughly 540,000 adults over 18.
